Our Intermediate Swim Kids Program will help your child perfect their basic swim strokes and build on their water safety skills

Our intermediate swimming lessons for children five years or more are ideal for kids who are starting to get confident with swimming unassisted and now want to hone their technique with basic strokes and increase their endurance.

Intermediate to Advanced

What Will My Child Learn During Your Intermediate Swimming Lessons?

By covering SWIMMER levels 2, 3 and 4, this program helps kid’s already comfortable performing basic front and back crawls unassisted in deep water. In this program, your child will improve their front and back crawl, learn the primary technique for breaststroke, and work on their endurance. Your child will also learn basic aquatic entries like a standing dive and gain safety skills in-line with the Lifesaving Society’s Swim to Survive program.

In our intermediate swim classes, your child will learn: 

  • Front crawl 

  • Back crawl

  • Basic breaststroke

  • Endurance training

  • Simple aquatic entries

  • Safety skills

The student-to-instructor ratio is 3:1

  • When and where is the Parent & Child program?
    We offer this program in two locations during fall, winter and spring*:  Saturdays at Kodiak (Babies 4-24 months) 4:15pm-4:45pm / 4:45pm-5:15pm  Sundays at Havergal (Children 2-4 years) 3:30pm-4:00pm *The program is exclusively available at Kodiak durign the summer.
  • What is the price and where can I find the schedule?
    Please refer to the corresponding session schedule.
  • At what age my baby can start swimming?
    The Parent & Child program is aimed at children between 4 months and 4 years. We run classes for children 4 months to 24 months at our Kodiak location, and 2 years to 4 years at our Havergal location.
  • What do I have to bring for the lesson?
    Bathing suit, and a towel. Please ensure your baby is properly wearing a swim diaper for each lesson.
  • By the end of the session, will my baby be comfortable putting their face in the water?
    Every baby has unique individual reactions and for that reason, we use an individual approach with each child with the goal of them always moving towards face in the water and submersion then progressing to buoyancy on the front and back, and starting on basics movement skills.  Learn more about our Beginner Program.
