Kodiak Pool

Our Parent & Tot Swim class helps students develop water accommodation skills and improves a positive attitude towards swimming and water safety

In the heart of the Greater Toronto Area, Frank’s Swim School has been introducing babies ages 4 months and older to an aquatic environment since 1968!

Taught by our experienced staff schooled in teaching babies, toddlers, and young children swimming lessons, we focus on creating a positive and comfortable atmosphere to develop water accommodation skills, while taking into account the individual needs of both child and parent.

Bond with your infant at our indoor baby swimming pool

Our parent and child indoor swimming classes are held at our Kodiak Specialty Teaching Pool in North York, as well as at Havergal College providing a unique experience that strengthens the bond between child and parent in a safe and protective environment.

These classes are 30 minutes long and held on Saturdays and Sundays, with a maximum of six pairs per swimming class.

You and your toddler will gain and leave the program with the following knowledge:

How to properly hold and engage with your baby in the water
Water safety and basic swim skills for parents and babies
How to make your infant feel at home in the water
And more.

Working on breath control, buoyancy, and movement skills to develop an essential foundation for your child’s swimming experiences. These classes promote water safety and a natural enthusiasm for swimming, a genuinely beneficial life skill for their future aquatic outings.

Our comprehensive teaching approach encompasses various skills, starting with an introduction to the aquatic environment. This approach places a strong emphasis on water safety, skill development, and nurturing a positive attitude towards swimming.

When and where is the Parent & Child program?

We offer this program in two locations during fall, winter and spring*:

Saturdays at Kodiak (Babies 4-24 months)
4:15pm-4:45pm / 4:45pm-5:15pm

Sundays at Havergal (Children 2-4 years)
3:30pm-4:00pm

*The program is exclusively available at Kodiak during the summer.

What is the price and where can I find the schedule?

At what age my baby can start swimming?

The Parent & Child program is aimed at children between 4 months and 4 years.

We run classes for children 4 months to 24 months at our Kodiak location, and 2 years to 4 years at our Havergal location.

What do I have to bring for the lesson?

Bathing suit, and a towel. Please ensure your baby is properly wearing a swim diaper for each lesson.

By the end of the session, will my baby be comfortable putting their face in the water?

Every baby has unique individual reactions and for that reason, we use an individual approach with each child with the goal of them always moving towards face in the water and submersion then progressing to buoyancy on the front and back, and starting on basics movement skills.

Best swim school ever. The instructors are caring, patient and know how to deal with children from babies to older children. Both my children (2 years old and 4 years) are currently in the same class as the teachers adjust their teachings according to their skill levels. The pool is warm as well, perfect for winter time. Great ratio of teacher to student - most of the time, my children have basically their own teacher! I highly recommend Frank's Swim School!

Highly Recommended! Our girls have been attending Frank's Swim Classes since they were babies and I truly can't say enough wonderful things about the program, staff and owner Mike. Everyone is absolutely wonderful with the girls and has helped them advance in their abilities and grow their confidence in the pool. My sister in law introduced us to Frank's Swim Classes as my nephew went there since he was young. My son started at 2.5 yrs old there, he wqs the youngest one in the class. The teachers were so patience with cause cried 45 minutes straight!!!. Now he loves going swimming. The ratio from teachers to students are great. Almost feels like private lessons. They so attentive to the kids.

we’ve moved around quite a bit & tried different swim schools & Frank’s is hands down the best school we’ve been too. My 5 year old is swimming & diving in with so much confidence & independence (& says Tues are her favourite day of the week). My 3 year went from disliking the pool to now laughing & smiling the entire time & loving his instructors…. These lessons have done wonders for my kids. We were just in Mexico & my eldest was duck diving straight into the waves & laughed it off when her mask was pushed off her face and then my youngest tried bodyboarding & wasn’t bothered with the facefull of water. It was incredible to watch!

My kids were scared and clung to me in terror for the 1st 2 sessions: 3&4 sessions in and now they are excited to go. my 5 yr old now swims across the pool, underwater. Amazing

Only with Franks 3 weeks and already can’t say enough positive things! My children learned more here in 3 weeks than in 3 semesters at their previous swim school. There’s an adult supervising (not a teen!) and he actually goes to the different groups to help the instructors with tips and suggestions. My kids used to complain about their swim classes and teachers now all 3 love them. Thank you Franks!

Important Notes About Our Parent & Child Classes!

We suggest keeping a child in the Parent and Child swimming program until age 2. However, certain circumstances may arise where a slightly older child can still participate in the class. When determining their participation, it’s essential to consider your child’s readiness and comfort level in the water.

While make-up classes are unavailable for the Parent and Child swimming program, a focus on consistency and regular attendance contributes to your child’s progress and development.
